New village inaugurated
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Dhassang Namchang-
Attending the three days function, Doimukh MLA Nabam Rebia unveiled the stone to mark the occasion and urged the dwellers to make Dhassang village a model village which should signify the image of Arunachal. He enlightened the gathering that the tourists come here not to see concrete buildings but to see how we live, where we live. Moreover, he asked the tribesmen to make proper plan of the village beforehand to the establishment of basic amenities like school, medical, community hall, etc.
The function being organized by Attu Dhassang Welfare Society will be continued for three days where there will be various games and sports activities like Archery, volleyball, etc and cultural competitions.

Sensitization Workshop on RSBY
NAHARLAGUN, Jan 15: Training cum sensitization workshop on Rasthriya Swasthya Bima Yojona (RSBY) for Medical Superintendents of District Hospital and computer operators was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Hage Taki, Joint Director of Health Services at conference hall of Health Department today.
Dr. Lollen, Deputy Director (PH) cum Nodal Officer for Health Department in his key note address highlighted the status of the implementation of RSBY in Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr. Subhajit Banerjee of Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company Ltd., gave a PowerPoint presentation on duties and responsibilities of District Hospitals and coverage of treatment under RSBY.
The workshop was also addressed by Komkar Dulom, Director (Rn) and requested the Medical Superintendents to implement the scheme in proper manner so that the families living below poverty line are benefitted. He said, there are 83007 BPL Households but Central Government has approved for covering 40,000, households only. The Government has assured to approach central Govt. for covering all BPL families in the next year. RSBY scheme is formally launched by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on December 19, 2012.

ITANAGAR, Jan 15: The members of Itanagar Buddhist Cultural Society (IBCS) on Monday visited Mother’s Home, Nirjuli and Orphan School, Polo Colony. The IBCS members led by general secretary Sonam Tenzin distributed food items during the visit.
At Orphan school, Polo Colony they distributed 4 quintal rice, 30 kg dal, 1 tin cooking oil, chocolates and at Mother’s Home 2 quintal 50 KG rice, 25 KG dal , one tin cooking oil along with chocolates were distributed. Lifetime achievement award for peace conferred on Tuki
NEW DELHI, Jan 15: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for Peace by the United Nations affiliated International Association of Educators of World Peace (IAEWP) at a glittering function at the India International Centre here today. Congratulating the new AAPSU team Tuki exhorted leaders to win the confidence of the masses by conscientiously working for greater welfare of the students’ community of the state.
“Students’ welfare should be the priority agenda of AAPSU being the state’s apex students’ body,” the Chief Minister said during the interaction.
He suggested the Union should adopt ‘Do’s’ and ‘Don’ts’ for the students right from the primary level so that they do not go wayward.
The CM also advised the team to uphold the democratic principles by taking consensus opinion of all members before initiating any step and going public.
“Do not take up any issue without cross checking facts and figures lest it creates misgivings,” he pointed.
Earlier, the AAPSU team discussed several developmental as well as law and order issues of the state. The boundary and refugee (Chakmas & Hajongs) issues were also important parts of the discussion.

GSU demands speedy investigation into Aalo incident, examplary punishment to accused
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Expressing deep anguish over the brutal murder of Goto Yudik of village Yudik, Dumporijo at General ground Aalo on Galo Day Celebration cum Galo Bane Keba (GBK) on January 10 last, Galo Students Union (GSU) has demanded immediate dropping of Parliamentary Secretary, Home Geology & Mining Gadam Ete from the post for his alleged failure to maintain law and order.
The Union in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister alleged that G. Ete has miserably failed to discharge his duty in maintaining law and order which, it said, can be substantiated from numerous law and order problem like M’Pen violence, Yazali and Tawang rape and murder cases and Tongam Rina shooting case etc. Claiming that atrocities against Galos have increased during his time, the Union said he had taken the issue very lightly by not employing proper security measure during the mega event.
Demanding speedy and impartial investigation into the case by a competent police officer and submission of Charge sheet against the culprits at the earliest, the Union said police should immediately take the statements of all the eye witnesses in this case. It further demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in this case to restore faith of the people on the Govt.
Blaming the district administration and location organizing committee (LOC) for their failure to contain law and order situation, the Union said that the incident had occurred due to total security lapses. Despite repeated request made to the District Administration and the local organizing committee (LOC) about the threat, no action was initiated by them, the Union said and demanded immediate action against West Siang Deputy Commissioner and magistrate on duty during the event and immediate transfer of superintendent of police for their alleged failure to provide proper security. Yudik, assistant general secretary (protocol) of GSU was attacked with dao in front of many people which resulted in his death and vehicles of both the President and Secretary General, GSU, were also damaged by the attackers, the Union said. It further demanded arrest of persons who have allegedly encouraged the attackers and played a divisive role.
The Union further said that the Aalo general ground should be named after Goto Yudik ‘who sacrificed his life for the unification of Galos.’ The Union appealed to the Govt to respond to its demand s within seven days, failing which, it threatened to launch indefinite agitation.
Meanwhile, Karga Ao Students Union (KASU) has strongly condemned the Aalo incident. The Union appealed to all section of the Galo society to maintain peace and harmony and also demanded justice to bereaved family.
While mourning the death of Goto Yudik, the Union said the society lost a active social worker in his death.

ITANAGAR, Jan 15: A specially designed course for class X students of VKVs was inaugurated by Itanagar Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goel at VKV Chimpu, near here today morning.
He has appreciated the VKV authorities for organizing such a unique camp for enriching the personality of each and every student. He emphasized the need for a holistic development which means excellence in every field like academic, art, culture, etc. He said that Arunachal Pradesh is in the state of evolution and it has the potential to be an economically advanced state within 10 years if the 20 mega projects come into being.

Drive against dark tinted films on car windows continues
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Continuing their drive against dark tinted films on car windows for the second day today, the District Administration (DA) and police removed black tinted films from more than 3000 cars, including government and public vehicles.
The District Administration has also seized black film rolls worth lakhs of rupees from more than 20 shops in Itanagar and Naharlagun during a raid conducted by magistrates and police to prevent the car decorating/ repair shops from affixing such banned black films on vehicles, according to an official release.
In a separate drive, 63 persons without having inner line permit (ILP) were apprehended at Banderdewa and deported outside the state.
The District Administration has appealed to all the vehicle owners to remove their tinted films on their car windows on their own to avoid penalty.

Two persons die in separate incidents
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Two persons have died in separate incidents related to picnic party organised to celebrate New Year in Longding district in the last two days.

Soon after one Nokchai Munham of Longhua village was rushed to CHC Kanubari in bleeding and unconscious state, after he was hit by one Wangnyai Wangjen of Kanubari at the picnic spot, the villagers blocked traffic on Longhua road leading to the Longding district headquarters. However, the victim did not regain consciousness and ultimately died at Dibrugarh yesterday.
Soon after agitated villagers with arms, seeking to avenge the death, rushed to Kanubari and demanded that the absconding accused, a relative of the local legislator, be arrested. Two FIRs were reportedly lodged at the local police station. However, the prime accused could not be arrested. The local administration had to tighten security in Kanubari yesterday following the tense situation in the town.
However, after long persuasion by the chiefs, GBs and local leaders the situation could be brought to control while the local MLA assured the people not to protect the accused and to provide job to one of the immediate members of the family of the deceased besides some financial assistances.
In another incident, one youth reportedly met with watery grave while taking bath in Tissing River yesterday.
According to reports, a group of youth from nearby Longsom village had organised a picnic, however, one of them was found missing during lunch time. Later, after desperate search they found the body of the missing youth from the spot.

So, what exactly is organic clothing? Simply put, it is clothes made of materials
grown in compliance with organic agricultural standards. Which implies that the cotton,
jute, silk, ramie, or wool used to make the fabrics are sourced from farms which
do not use any synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or genetically-
Research has shown that though cotton covers just 2.5 per cent of the world's cultivated land, it devours 16 per cent of the world's insecticides, more than any other single major crop. Organic clothes ensure that humans and animals are not exposed to pesticides or herbicides and once discarded harmful chemicals do not creep into landfills, polluting future crops and food chains.
The Organic Trade Association notes that the sales of organic cotton clothing and household textiles increased 35 per cent between 2008 and 2009. The reason why organic clothes have captured the imagination of shoppers is, as the National Geographic puts it, such clothes make shoppers “feel right, not just for your skin, but also for your conscience.”
Experts opine that the benefits of organically grown textile crops, extend way beyond your closet and contribute significantly to protecting our ecosystem and its biologically diverse life.

Dear Editor,
Through this columns I would like to bring to the kind attention of Education Minister that due to ongoing pen down strike by AASATA and ATA the poor students who studies at govt. schools are being victimized. That as you know that in the remote far flung areas of Arunachal Pradesh most of the schools are run by SSA teacher. You remaining silence over the present scenario of schools due to pen down strike are not the symbol of responsible minister in state. of Arunachal Pradesh I would like to appeal concerned minister and concerned authorities
of education department to early initiate steps to solve the issue. Poor student

Please look into demands of SSA
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw your kind attention towards the silent mood of government, student unions and other association towards ongoing pen down strike called by teachers. Why government is not responding towards the demand of teachers. Teachers demand is genuine. Government in the past had an agreement with SSA teachers for regularization of their job. Striking teachers didn’t have their two month salary. But on the other hand student unions of state is maintaining total silent over the issue. The very objectives of students union is to work for the interest of the students of state. Due to ongoing strike the school going student is facing serious problem. I request state govt to sort out the demand of the teachers early by an amicable solution.
